On Saturday evening, August 6th, Dragonflies learned how to two-step and how to do the electric slide line dance. With the seasoned dance teaching skills of Daniel Alvarado, a group of about 26 individuals was able to learn the two-step, incredibly without stepping all over each other. We had folks who had no problem picking up the moves as well as folks who just had the most difficult time getting it. In the long run and with enough patience, everyone was finally able to get all the moves. It was probably the most interactive mixer we’ve had in a long time. The goal of the mixer was to learn how to dance a little bit of Country and Western and to have as much fun as we could while learning. Mission accomplished! A special thanks to Daniel for volunteering to teach us how to dance and for also having a lot of patience with our group. On Saturday evening, July 30th 2005 at the Promise Community Church on 2527 W. Colorado Blvd. Dallas, Dragonflies of Dallas participated in a Multi-Group potluck event. Ken, the President of Friends Associating and Relating (aka FAR) put together this event which attracted a crowd of about 70 participants. FAR is a group that offers an alternative for people to meet and mingle outside of the bar scene. Groups that participated in the event included a gardening group, an outdoors group, church groups, a prime-timers group and a few others. We had tons of food and lots of fun and conversation while each group leader got a chance tell everyone a little bit about their group. |
